About the event
Join us for a fun and supportive improv workshop designed for neurodivergent 10 - 14 year olds!
Give your neurodivergent young person a chance to connect with others, have fun and laugh while building their skills in a small group setting. Participants in the workshop will have opportunities to build their self-confidence when navigating social situations, explore different ways of communicating, manage anxiety, and strengthen their ability to be flexible and cope with unexpected situations and changes.
The workshop will be delivered by Ashley Seaman, an Ontario Certified Teacher with extensive experience in using theatre, improv and comedy to support wellness, and Jessica Diamond, a Registered Social Worker specializing in working with neurodivergent young people and families.
Time: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Cost: $85 *may be covered by extended health plans and/or OAP funding
An important note: This workshop is neurodiversity-affirming. We believe that all individuals have differences in how they interact with the world around them, and that these differences are not deficits and do not need to be "fixed". For this reason, we don't characterize this workshop as teaching social skills. This workshop aims to enhance the ability of neurodivergent young people to navigate social situations in ways that make sense to and for them. Any social needs will be addressed in the context of affirming their identity, building up their self-worth and focusing on their strengths.
Participants do not require formal identification of neurodivergence to attend this workshop.
